Blue Point Brewing Company (part of AB InBev) is a brewery based in Patchogue, NY that was expanding their food and restaurant operations to provide a unique experience for their many fans. They wanted an in-restaurant ordering solution in the form of a consumer mobile web app that would provide a unique, engaging, free-form experience, breaking the idea of a “traditional restaurant” while also streamlining operations.


Ballast Lane Applications worked with the Blue Point team directly to design and build a solution within a tight timeline to coincide with Pub’s opening in early Spring. The initial release is a responsive Web application that enables customers to order and pay for food and beer from their table, and have it delivered to them by the waitstaff. The team actively managed the integration with Toast, a restaurant point of sale and management system. Toast’s services are being used to manage the menu structures and options, place orders, process credit card transactions and set opening hours. These have been integrated and modified according to the specific needs of the consumer facing web app.

In addition to core ordering features, the app contains a beer rating feature, a loyalty and reward program and a customer account for users to save payment information.  An admin portal enables the Blue Point team to edit the consumer web app easily, change table values and imagery, and keep track of the user base and the progress of the reward program.

Key benefits for the end user include convenience, speed and personalization.

Benefits for Blue Point include the ability to easily update menu items, to streamline their service offerings, to measure the success of this new service model, and to add features easily.  Blue Point will also be able to easily replicate this model at new locations.
