Flooring America & Flooring Canada is a cooperative of more than 500 independent retailers of flooring stores in North America. Every Flooring America store is locally owned and operated – often for generations.  Each store provides customized recommendations and excellent support for their customers.

The challenges Flooring America faced

Flooring America’s goal was to enable their customers to visualize what new carpet, wood, tiles and wall colors would look like. To get a feel for the change, the customers should be able to take a photo or upload pictures of the rooms that need new flooring.   By visualizing a new look, the consumer would be more confident about installing new carpet, wood or vinyl product.  The challenge was to provide a visualization tool that could be easily understood and used without any training at all.

The solution we offered

We created a My Floor Style app for iPad and Android tablets. With the app, the user can take a photo of their room. Through simple selection, by setting pins, they can then mark the area they want to change. Afterward, the user can remove the selected area and choose from a variety of wall colors and flooring. By moving the floor around the outline can be adjusted. The user then has the option to save their changes and share the new layout with friends on social media to get their opinions.
